Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Property Credit Controller to join our team at Page Personnel Finance. As a key member of our Property Accounting & Finance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate processing of rent and service charges, while providing excellent customer service to tenants.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of your role and make a significant impact in the Property industry. As a Property Credit Controller, you will be responsible for monitoring accounts, chasing payments, and reconciling discrepancies. You will also handle tenant queries, manage arrears correspondence, and serve legal notices when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Account Monitoring: Keep a close eye on accounts to spot any late or missing payments and ensure everything is up to date.
  • Payment Chasing: Issue reminders to recover overdue payments and escalate where necessary.
  • Reconciliation: Identify under/over payments, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accounts are accurate.
  • Excel & Systems: Prepare rent schedules and reconcile accounts using Excel and our in-house property management system.
  • Tenant Queries: Handle tenant queries about their rent over the phone, by email, or letter, and log everything on our system.
  • Arrears Management: Deal with arrears correspondence and ensure it's all followed up efficiently.
  • Legal Notices: Serve legal notices when needed and manage the process through to completion, including preparing for hearings and attending court if necessary.
  • Payment Reconciliation: Identify unallocated payments and post daily rent charges.
  • Debt Management Support: Assist tenants with debt issues and work closely with the finance team to keep everything on track.

Requirements

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role as a Property Credit Controller or experience in chasing rent arrears is highly desirable.
  • Attention to Detail: A responsible approach and attention to detail are crucial for this role.
  • Workload Management: The ability to manage your own workload and deal with landlords and tenants is essential.
  • Telephone Manner: An excellent telephone manner is required for this role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is necessary.
  • Proactivity: The ability to work proactively both independently and as part of a team is essential.
  • Task Prioritization: The ability to prioritize tasks, working quickly and accurately to meet deadlines is crucial.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, build rapport, and handle complex issues calmly and professionally, are required.
