Machinist and Fabricator

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist and Fabricator to join our team at Tamar Hydro Pty Ltd. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication and assembly of mechanical components, operating and maintaining various types of machining equipment.
This is a challenging role that requires a skillful approach in executing precise machining work while meeting deadlines across multiple projects. The job involves substantial physical activities, including lifting and carrying loads, prolonged standing, operating loud machinery, climbing ladders, bending, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized University.
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in mechanical engineering, with a focus on hydro mechanical systems and hydropower technology.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for 2D and 3D modeling.
- Tasmanian Drivers Licence – C Class or Higher
- White Card
- Experience with software such as Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics.
- Advanced level of expertise with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
- Additional qualifications in renewable energy are desirable.
- Project management certification is desirable.
Estimated Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
