We're seeking a seasoned character artist leader to spearhead our fantasy game's artistic vision. Located in Copenhagen or other IOI studios, this role demands a creative visionary with exceptional communication skills.

As a Senior Fantasy Character Art Lead at IOI, you'll be responsible for mentoring a team of talented artists, driving project results, and collaborating closely with the Art Director and Associate Art Director.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of AAA experience, a strong background in creating high-quality characters, and a passion for the fantasy genre. You'll need to stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements, optimizing character models for seamless integration within our proprietary Glacier engine.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of character artists, providing guidance and support throughout the production cycle.
  • Collaborating closely with the Art Director and Associate Art Director to establish and maintain the artistic vision for in-game characters.
  • Translating concepts and design direction into visually stunning, optimized character models and assets.
  • Overseeing the creation of character sculpts, ensuring they align with design requirements and are conceptually and aesthetically compelling.
  • Working closely with animators, rigging artists, and technical artists to ensure seamless integration of character assets within the game.
  • Preparing and managing outsourcing handouts, providing clear instructions and feedback to external partners on character-related tasks.
  • Collaborating with technical artists to optimize character models for optimal execution and performance within our proprietary engine.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of AAA experience as a Lead Character Artist.
  • An in-depth understanding of technical limitations and requirements for in-game character creation.
  • Experience in one or more 3D applications (3ds Max, Maya, or other).
