About the Role

The role of Handyperson is a vital part of our team at Blackbrook House care home, contributing to the comfort, safety, and happiness of our residents. You will report directly to the Home Manager and be responsible for carrying out day-to-day minor maintenance and repairs to a high standard.


Key Responsibilities

  • Performing minor maintenance and repairs to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for residents.
  • Differentiating between minor repairs and those requiring specialist skills.
  • Ensuring equipment is used safely, adhering to health and safety procedures at all times.

Requirements
Desirable Experience and Skills

  • Previous experience in gardening, building, or maintenance is highly desirable.
  • Possession of a range of practical skills, including maintenance and gardening.
  • Understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.
  • Health and safety knowledge in the workplace.

Essential Skills

  • Well-organized with the ability to plan workload effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and empathy skills, with a friendly and approachable personality.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to undertake a wide range of activities.
  • Customer-focused at all times.
