Job Title: Depot Manager

Job Summary:

REACT Transport Services is seeking an experienced Depot Manager to lead and develop all activities to deliver sustainable and profitable growth for the depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall upkeep of the depot, managing and controlling all aspects of operations, and ensuring optimal cost and service levels are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the company's values and vision are achieved and drive them forward.
  • Work closely with other depots to achieve efficacies.
  • Drive business growth.
  • Ensure all legislative and regulatory requirements are met with particular emphasis on tachograph, driver's hours, maintenance schedules, and records.
  • Exercise operational controls in order to protect the company's Operator License and regularly audit systems to ensure compliance.
  • Set clear goals, recognize good performance, and professionally manage poor performance.
  • Ensure the performance of the operation exceeds customer expectations in line with recognized contract KPIs.
  • Liaise, support, and develop effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Managing a small team and making sure all daily duties are achieved through delegation.
  • Assist the owner in ensuring all operational performance standards are met.
  • Undertaking reviews as necessary and giving feedback to the owner.
  • Plan and arrange for the training and development of operational staff.
  • Ensure and monitor effective use of driver and vehicle resources.
  • Establish and develop working relationships with the customer.
  • Compile and analyze operational and financial performance data to identify service efficiencies and improvement around MPG, dead mileage, and damage.
  • Coordinate site housekeeping/maintenance to ensure H&S requirements are upheld.

Requirements:

  • To be proactive and work under own initiative to form solutions to potential problems with the ability to make decisions instantaneously.
  • Previous experience of managing a budget.
  • Strong negotiating and reasoning skills and understanding of the customers' requirements.
  • The ability to motivate and lead the team.
  • Professional manner.
  • Strong commercial understanding.
  • CPC holder not essential but preferable.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good Business acumen, with the ability to produce and understand Financial and Management Reporting.
