We are seeking a skilled Carpenter Locksmith to join our team at HMP Chelmsford, a Category B, Male prison. As a key member of our Facilities Maintenance Team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the prison's facilities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in carpentry and locksmithing, with experience in a similar role. You will be required to work independently and as part of a team, using your skills and expertise to maintain and repair a variety of facilities, including buildings, equipment, and systems.
In addition to your technical skills, you will also be expected to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair a variety of facilities, including buildings, equipment, and systems
- Use power tools and machinery safely and effectively
- Work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and objectives
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
- Contribute to the development and implementation of maintenance and repair plans
Requirements:
- Substantiated experience in a similar role
- Competency in the use and operation of all associated power tools and machinery
- Basic IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
- Up-to-date First Aid at Work Qualification
- City & Guilds, National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Carpentry or an equivalent qualification or substantial experience
- Good Health & Safety knowledge
- Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
