We are looking for a motivated and empathetic Student Mentor to work with our secondary-aged students at our Pupil Referral Unit in Gloucester. As a Student Advocate, you will be responsible for providing supportive guidance and assistance to students in need, helping them overcome barriers to their education and achieve their full potential.

Main Responsibilities
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and positive behaviour.
  • Provide one-to-one mentoring and small group support tailored to individual needs.
  • Support students in managing their behaviour and emotions, using de-escalation techniques where necessary.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to implement strategies that promote student progress.
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating resilience and perseverance.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with students who have SEMH needs, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Job Details

Estimated salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per year. Temporary contract with opportunities for further employment.
