Job Opportunity

ADAS, a leading environmental consultancy, is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Agricultural Soil Surveyor / Consultant to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be involved in a range of projects across various sectors, including infrastructure, residential, and commercial developments, as well as cross-country pipelines and cables.

These projects will be located throughout the UK, sometimes in remote and challenging locations. The ideal candidate must be able to travel extensively throughout the UK and stay away from home for short periods. They must also be comfortable working alone in agricultural settings where livestock may be present.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct soil survey fieldwork and produce comprehensive reports for Agricultural Land Classification (ALC)
  • Manage soil resource assessments and other related projects for clients
  • Develop and maintain data to support technical reporting, planning applications, and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
  • Liaise with clients, landowners, contractors, statutory authorities, and third parties

Requirements:

  • Full driving license and own transport
  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Soil Science or a related field (physical geology, environmental science)
  • Relevant years of practical experience
  • Experience in soil surveying and knowledge of Agricultural Land Classification (ALC)
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Capacity to develop skills and register with a professional body, such as the Institution of Agricultural Engineers or the British Society of Soil Science
