Job Summary

Barber Mclelland Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and ambitious qualified practice accountant to join their team as an Audit and Accounts Senior. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accounting and audit services to a diverse portfolio of clients.

About the Role

The Audit and Accounts Senior will report to the Corporate Service Partner and be responsible for:

  • Carrying out audits of companies, charities, academies, and LLPs from budgeting and planning through to finalization
  • Preparing statutory accounts from trial balance
  • Supervising and developing trainees
  • Preparing corporate/business tax computations
  • Attending client premises
  • Liaising with clients, including resolving queries and issues on site
  • Managing smaller jobs, reporting directly to the partner
  • Carrying out internal audit work in not-for-profit organizations

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience working for an accountancy practice and be a qualified ACCA or ACA. Applications are also encouraged from individuals who are nearing completion of their professional studies.

Desirable Skills and Qualities

  • Some experience of charity/academy audits is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of audit supervision and planning, including completion of files for manager or partner review
  • Good IT skills, including experience with different audit packages or systems and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Confident communication skills, able to liaise with clients and colleagues at all levels
  • Accuracy, methodicalness, and organization
