Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fabric Engineer Technician to join our team at DFS Furniture PLC. As a Fabric Engineer Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing sites by performing proactive maintenance, reducing downtime, and improving machine efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maximizing Productivity: Perform proactive maintenance tasks to minimize machine downtime and improve overall productivity.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Carry out routine maintenance and repair tasks on manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and support to junior engineers and apprentices to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance and repair work is carried out in accordance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of spare parts to ensure that all necessary components are available when needed.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including reports of any incidents or breakdowns.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Contractor Management: Manage the work of contractors and ensure that they are properly supervised and trained.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organized work environment to ensure a safe and healthy working space.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Qualifications: Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical and minimum level 2 in the opposite discipline - HND preferred in the main discipline.
  • Certifications: Must hold C&G 2391-52 Initial and periodic electrical inspection and testing.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Personal Qualities: Adaptable and flexible, with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
