Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiography Team Lead to join our team at Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of radiographers and ensuring the smooth operation of our CT and MRI department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deputy to the Superintendent Radiographer, taking on their duties in times of absence, sickness, or annual leave.
  • Manage the day-to-day workload, prioritizing clinical tasks and negotiating changes to the planned work rota as needed.
  • Oversee staff absences, including sickness and annual leave, and conduct Return to Work Interviews.
  • Make decisions on staff levels, skill mix, and annual leave requests, updating Health Roster accordingly.
  • Manage bank and agency staff, ensuring up-to-date competencies and assigning duties as required.
  • Liaise with locum agencies for staff bookings and update staff rota and capacity records.
  • Add PP and WLI payments to Health Roster and finalize end-of-month tasks.
  • Schedule annual appraisals and provide training for new staff, including local induction and relevant competencies.
  • Record and schedule mandatory training dates for CT and MRI staff.
  • Maintain and update records of staff competencies.
  • Undertake IV Cannulation and IV therapy assessments for new and existing staff.
  • Investigate and respond to LERN forms from staff and other hospital wards and departments.
  • Schedule, attend, and chair staff meetings.
  • Address sensitive issues, such as poor performance, timekeeping, and appearance, and engage with patients who raise complaints.
  • Create and update SOPs, policies, PGDs, and departmental protocols.
  • Report faults to manufacturers and schedule maintenance visits, updating records.
  • Ensure departmental audits are undertaken and updated on the Radiology Audit Schedule.
  • Shortlist and interview prospective radiographers and RDAs.
  • Collaborate with the Poole team to improve services and amalgamate systems.
  • Attend the monthly Quality and Risk Forum and UHD Extravasation Group meetings.

Requirements

  • Extensive postgraduate radiography experience, with significant experience in CT and/or MRI.
  • Postgraduate qualification in CT or MRI or equivalent clinical experience.
  • Experience leading a team and supervising less qualified radiographers or students.

Desirable Criteria

  • Management qualification.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Able to demonstrate a good technical knowledge of either modality and be willing to train in the other if necessary.
