Special Needs Education Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Special Needs Education Assistant at a Primary school in Bradford.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will work closely with the lead teacher to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs. The role involves assisting with classroom duties, off-site recreational activities, and providing support to students with autism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities for students with special needs.
- Provide support to students with autism, including those with challenging behaviors.
- Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Help students with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene.
- Support students in their academic and social development.
- Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
- Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs and challenging behaviors.
- Knowledge of special education practices and strategies.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviors.
