About the Role

As a Cyber Defence Specialist at ANS, you will be working in a fast-paced, 24/7 Security Operations Centre (SoC), utilizing cutting-edge enterprise-grade cyber defence technology to protect our customers from sophisticated threats. You will collaborate with a team of experienced security analysts and engineers who are committed to delivering exceptional service and ensuring the highest level of security for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage and investigate security incidents using advanced tools and techniques.
  • Tune and refine alerting and prevention rulesets to minimize false positives and ensure prompt threat detection.
  • Manage and maintain various security technologies to ensure seamless operation and optimal performance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients during incidents, providing timely updates and resolution progress.
  • Onboard new customers into our Managed XDR services, ensuring a smooth transition and optimal solution deployment.
  • Monitor and respond to Security Operations Centre (SOC) alerts in real-time, taking swift action to mitigate potential threats.
  • Assist in compromise investigations and e-discovery requests, utilizing expertise to gather relevant data and insights.
  • Liaise with clients through ticketing systems and phone calls to address security-related queries and concerns.
  • Review vulnerability scans and provide actionable remediation advice to clients, enhancing their overall security posture.
  • Proactively monitor client solutions to identify potential security risks and implement targeted mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with sales and account managers to provide expert security guidance and support to clients.

Requirements

  • Previous security engineering or operations experience, preferably within an MSSP environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Cloud Technologies and associated security implications.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of syslog, event viewer, and other relevant logging mechanisms.
  • Incident response and network defence skills, with a focus on proactive threat mitigation.
  • NIST CVSS vulnerability scoring and OS-specific log data analysis expertise.
  • Secure development principles and OWASP top 10 knowledge to ensure robust security practices.
  • Able to achieve HMG Security Clearance, requiring 5 years of UK residence.
  • Comfortable with shift pattern work, including nights, to maintain 24/7 SoC coverage.
