As a key member of the Bishop's Leadership Team, the Director of Mission and Ministry Development will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of mission and ministry within the Diocese.

The successful candidate will lead the Mission and Ministry Development Team in providing and sustaining effective missional leaders, both ordained and lay, to support the emerging diocesan vision.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the team in developing and implementing diocesan policy to resource, develop, and support ordained and lay missional leaders.
  • Embedding the diocesan objectives within the team through encouraging and discerning ordained and lay vocations, the formation, training, and development of ordained and lay leaders who are equipped to nurture missional disciples and leaders.
  • Ensuring the effective integration of children and young people's mission and ministry into the wider Mission and Ministry Development Team, to support the growth of younger disciples and the development of young leaders.

Candidates will require:

  • A minimum of 6 years' practical experience in lay or ordained ministry.
  • An appropriate degree qualification and experience in Theology/Christian ministry.
  • A passion for developing the ministerial gifts and skills of others, particularly lay people.
  • Proven experience in a similar leadership role, with responsibility for managing and developing a team through significant change.
  • Experience in leading or managing theological ministerial formation or training.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their skills and experience in managing strategic direction and change, and will be committed to achieving diversity throughout the Diocese by seeking UKME/GMH colleagues and those from a wide range of backgrounds.

This role requires an enhanced DBS check and an occupational requirement for the post holder to be Christian.
