As a Financial Crime Internal Auditor VP at Barclays, you will play a pivotal role in providing independent assurance over the effectiveness of controls to mitigate financial crime risk across different businesses. You will be part of our global Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) team, working with the first and 2nd line of defence within financial crime and fraud.

  • Experience working in financial crime is essential.
  • ACAMS certification is highly valued.
  • Practical understanding of relevant regulatory environment is crucial.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Financial Services experience is necessary.

Other highly valued skills include:

  • Experience in risk-based auditing or risk/control activities.
  • Fraud risk management.

You will be assessed on key critical skills relevant for success in the role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology, as well as job-specific technical skills.

Purpose of the role:

To support the development of audits aligned to the bank's standards and objectives by working collaboratively with colleagues, providing accurate information and recommendations, and complying with policies and procedures.

  • Audit development and delivery support, including financial statements, accounting practices, operational processes, IT systems, and risk management.
  • Identification of operational risks to support the delivery of the Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Audit Plan through risk assessments.
  • Assessment of internal control effectiveness and their capability to identify and mitigate risk aligned to regulatory requirements.
  • Communication of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the Audit Owner, senior managers, and directors.
  • Identification of regulatory news and industry trends/developments to provide timely insight and recommendations for best practice.
  • If managing a team, they define jobs and responsibilities, planning for the department's future needs and operations, counselling employees on performance, and contributing to employee pay decisions/changes.
  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
