Dentist (Restorative Dentistry and Acute Dental Care Specialist)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dentist to join our team at the Leeds Dental Institute. As a Specialty Dentist in Restorative Dentistry and Acute Dental Care, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients requiring treatment in these areas.
Main Duties:- Work within consultant-led Restorative Dentistry and Acute Dental Care services to enable local and national waiting time targets to be met.
- Support the head and neck restorative oncology service, including conservative and endodontic management of compromised teeth in patients with a history of head and neck radiotherapy or those at risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.
- Provide clinical treatment and supervision/tuition of undergraduate students in assessment and management of acute dental problems and post-treatment complications.
- To work within consultant-led Restorative Dentistry and Acute Dental Care services for patients requiring treatment at the Leeds Dental Institute and to enable local and national waiting time targets to be met.
- To support the head and neck restorative oncology service, which includes, but is not limited to:
- Conservative and endodontic management of compromised teeth in patients with a history of head and neck radiotherapy or those at risk of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw.
- Supporting the dental assessment of patients prior to the management of head and neck cancer.
- Support for patients requiring acute endodontic interventions prior to treatment for head and neck cancer and those having acute problems during chemotherapy for other cancers.
- Support the endodontic service within the department, involving endodontic procedures following dental trauma, dental anomalies, and other high priority groups.
- Assessment and urgent treatment of patients referred for assessment of possible sepsis of dental origin and patients awaiting cardiac procedures.
Qualifications:
- BDS/BChD.
Experience:
- Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk.
- Knowledge and competences to provide endodontic and prosthodontic clinical care at the appropriate level.
- Diagnosis and management of acute dental problems and post-operative complications.
Clinical, Academic, and Personal Skills:
- Demonstrated experience working in a team.
- Promotes equality and values diversity.
- Evidence of interest and experience in teaching undergraduate students and postgraduate doctors.
Eligibility, Fitness to practice, and Language Skills:
- Eligible for full registration with the GDC at time of appointment.
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment.
- Post-graduation experience in core training posts or general dental practice.
- Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English.
- Meets professional health requirements.
