Residential Childcare Support Worker

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our team at Polaris Community. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for young males aged 13-18 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a caring and motivating environment is provided for the young people, taking into account individual developmental needs and enabling them to reach their full potential.
- Plan and prepare activities that meet the young people's needs and stimulate their learning and integration within the home.
- Keep well-informed of legislation, guidelines, and policies to ensure the Children's Act, Children's homes regulations, and the national minimum standards are met at all times.
- Observe and assess young people's progress, keeping accurate records of their achievements, behavior, and important events in their lives.
- Work with local authorities and placing authorities to ensure the care the young people receive is outstanding.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with parents/carers, supporting young people's learning and development and valuing parental involvement where appropriate.
- Be flexible within working practices, helping where needed, including undertaking domestic tasks within the home.
- Work alongside the Manager and staff team to ensure the philosophy behind the home is fulfilled.
Requirements:
- Previous experience of working with teenage boys or challenging behavior, with a willingness to further develop skills.
- A driving license and access to a vehicle, as public transport is not a viable option due to the rural location.
- A Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards a required qualification.
- Flexibility with working hours, including a mixture of days, evenings, and weekends, with shift work and every other weekend off.
- The ability to challenge unacceptable behavior, provide firm boundaries, and provide care that meets the needs of the individual.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
