Job Vacancy for SEN Teacher in Wakefield, West Yorkshire

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to work with children aged 11-19 who have learning disabilities typically linked to Autism (ASD).

The successful candidate will lead small class sizes, supported by a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants and an excellent Therapy Team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners.
  • Managing a range of approaches to learning, including support for students with anxiety.
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding and child protection.

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A proven track record of achieving outstanding outcomes
  • Thorough knowledge of the curriculum and adaptation for SEN pupils
  • Experience working with young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • The ability to establish and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
  • Experience managing a range of learning approaches, including support for students with anxiety
  • Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners
  • Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in teaching to meet individual needs

This SEN Teacher position offers a salary of £30,000 - £44,900 per annum, depending on experience, along with a range of benefits including pension, life assurance, health plan, and continuous professional development opportunities.
