Job Title:

Head of Wellbeing and Counselling

Job Summary:

University College Birmingham is seeking an experienced wellbeing professional to lead and further develop its professional and specialist student mental health, wellbeing and counselling services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop the wellbeing and counselling service to meet the demands of the student community
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team and ensure that practice is safe and ethical
  • Develop excellent working relationships across the institution and with external partners and stakeholders
  • Ensure all relevant policies and procedures are in place and regularly reviewed for effectiveness and accuracy
  • Provide advice and/or counselling in a similar setting and have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation and professional guidelines
Requirements:
  • Significant experience of working with young people and students in a similar setting
  • Excellent leadership, management and innovation skills
  • Ability to manage risk and ensure that practice is safe and ethical
  • Experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent understanding of the barriers to engagement and how these can be overcome
