About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at Howdens Joinery. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling maintenance and engineering activities to ensure asset performance, reliability, and quality are guaranteed and improved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supports and leads the implementation of world-class maintenance methods to optimize asset performance.
- Leads root cause analysis for reliability and quality improvement, identifying and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Develops and implements practical problem-solving strategies to minimize downtime and optimize maintenance efficiency.
- Coordinates complex fault finding and escalates additional support requirements as needed.
- Develops and schedules PM work orders and calibration standards for critical assets.
- Responsible for improving maintenance and asset KPIs as defined by the maintenance manager.
- Leads critical spares analysis for assets and maintains spares to improve life cycle of components.
- Undertakes design out activities with team members to optimize asset performance.
- Ensures maintenance interventions on critical assets are thoroughly planned and executed.
- Ensures accurate recording of man hours for maintenance work.
- Undertakes regular 1:2:1s with team members to identify training needs and develop behaviors aligned to Howdens' mission statement and culture.
- Coordinates and undertakes equipment risk assessments and SOPs to ensure a safe working environment.
- Leads the use of dynamic risk assessments within the maintenance team to identify and mitigate risks.
- Deputizes for the maintenance manager out of hours to ensure planned and unplanned activities are conducted safely.
- Identifies and implements safe working practices and risk reduction on equipment.
- Ensures statutory maintenance work orders are completed on time and feedback is recorded in CMMS.
- Manages and coordinates contractor activities through PTWs.
Requirements:
- Formal Health and Safety qualification (e.g. CIEH Level 3 Health & Safety)
- NEBOSH general Certificate (preferred)
- HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Continuous Improvement experience
- Supervisory experience
