About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to take on the role of Head of Portfolio. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of change initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organisational strategy and delivering benefits to the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date portfolio information and associated roadmap details
  • Provide oversight and coordination of portfolio activities with other Heads of Portfolio
  • Ensure alignment between change initiatives and strategic objectives
  • Make recommendations to governance groups as required, providing key information for prioritisation decisions
  • Own all change within a portfolio, from opportunity to closure and benefits realisation
  • Lead financial reviews of change within a portfolio, comparing estimates against actuals for Epics or Projects
  • Resource planning and capacity management within each portfolio, in accordance with our frameworks
  • Line management responsibility for change delivery staff
  • Recruit to the portfolio team as required
  • Demonstrate that change initiatives are conducted within the capacity of the organisation
  • Ensure stakeholder engagement for securing realisation of intended benefits
  • Report actual benefits relative to intended benefits over the longer term
  • Report on portfolio status and make recommendations
  • Chair portfolio governance meetings
  • Identify and share lessons learned
  • Establish effective working partnerships with stakeholders from outside of IT, as required
  • Coordinate portfolio reporting and cross-portfolio risks and dependencies
  • Input to organisational strategy governing the direction and conduct of project management, including application of appropriate methodologies
  • Maintain and monitor budget across the portfolio (estimated in the £m's)

Requirements

  • Strong experience in CRM (Dynamics ideally)
  • Ability to build relationships across a wide stakeholder community and business partners
  • Experience in the higher education sector is advantageous
