Job Title: Advanced Specialist Pharmacist

Join UPMC Ireland as an Advanced Specialist Pharmacist and take on a challenging role that requires expertise in clinical pharmacy services. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the provision of pharmaceutical care and clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards and clinical areas.
  • Develop and review medication policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure safe and effective medication use.
  • Manage the safe and cost-effective entry of new medications onto the hospital formulary.
  • Assist in the management of stock shortages and expanded access or compassionate use programs.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and participate in multidisciplinary meetings and hospital committees.
  • Lead and oversee the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for procurement, storage, handling, and dispensing of medications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to optimize workflows and contribute to the development of medicines information resources.
  • Identify and address deficiencies in medications management systems and processes.
  • Report and encourage reporting on incidents and near misses to support management and mitigation of risk.
Requirements:
  • Registration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland or entitlement to be so registered.
  • At least 4 years of satisfactory post-registration hospital experience.
  • Significant, proven post-registration hospital practice experience with a broad clinical pharmacy experience and experience of line management.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, and resource management skills, as well as leadership, interpersonal, and people management skills.
