About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Research Practitioner/Research Nurse to join our dynamic research team at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day running of NIHR Portfolio studies, including patient identification, recruitment, and follow-up.
  • Manage a portfolio of studies in a patient-focused manner and grow future opportunities for studies in your specialty.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams across departments, demonstrating excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and external partners to achieve research objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of research strategies, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with researchers, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to design, conduct, and disseminate research studies.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Research Governance, and other relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Provide training and support to colleagues and students on research-related topics.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of research-related policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Registered nurse or equivalent degree qualification.
  • Effective time management and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to integrate with multiple teams to achieve set objectives.
  • Good understanding of research methods, GCP, and Research Governance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional weekend and out-of-hours work.
  • Clear understanding of confidentiality issues, including Caldicott and GDPR/Data Protection Act requirements.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in clinical research or clinical trials.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Education and training experience.
  • Experience in developing guidelines and protocols.
  • Research qualification.
  • Post-registration/CRP qualification.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including Excel and Access.
Person Specification
  • Strong commitment to clinical research.
  • Self-confidence and time management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Working Arrangements

The successful candidate will be required to work across Trust and Network sites as needed to deliver the demands of the service. A flexible approach to work and excellent timekeeping are essential.
