About the Role

As a Learning Support Assistant at Opogo, you will play a vital role in supporting students to succeed in the classroom. This position requires a dedicated individual who can manage behaviour effectively while maintaining a positive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group support to primary school students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging, tailored learning activities that cater to diverse needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) as needed.
  • Collaborate with teachers to identify and address learning gaps, and provide targeted support to students who require additional assistance.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, learning delays, and non-verbal communication.
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Passion for supporting students both academically and emotionally, and a commitment to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
