About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cardiac Physiologist to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Cardiac Physiologist with Specialised Expertise, you will be responsible for providing support to the Head of Cardiac Implantable Devices in the operational management of the service.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to work as an independent practitioner in cardiac device implantation and follow-up, as well as invasive cardiology. This includes the follow-up, implantation, and extraction of loop recorders, pacemakers, ICDs, and CRT.

You will be actively involved in the following areas of practice:

  • Simple and complex device implant, follow-up, and extraction, including pacemakers, ICDs, CRT, S-ICD, leadless, epicardial, and conduction system pacing.
  • Simple and complex electrophysiology.
  • Structural Intervention, including TAVI, Mitraclip, Valvuloplasty, ASD/VSD/PFO closure, other percutaneous congenital interventions, and left atrial appendage occlusions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a BSc in Clinical Physiology/Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or equivalent, as well as British Heart Rhythm accreditation in Devices/EP or equivalent. You will also need to demonstrate a commitment to training and the ability to participate in on-call duties. HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist is desirable.
