Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled physiotherapist to join our team in providing high-quality care to housebound patients in Torbay. As a Weekend Orthopaedics Physiotherapist, you will be responsible for assessing and managing patients with a wide range of pathologies, working closely with other healthcare professionals, GPs, and patients and their carers.
The successful candidate will have experience in community rehabilitation, crisis response, and intermediate care cover, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will be required to participate in the Baywide Intermediate Care weekend rota and late duty rota within the zone.
Main Duties- To deliver high-quality care to housebound patients, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and in partnership with primary care and secondary care.
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, including professional and legal accountability and managing clinical risk for all aspects of own work.
- To formulate and deliver individualised physiotherapy treatment programmes, including manual therapy techniques, therapeutic handling, patient education, electrotherapy, provision of exercise, and other alternative options.

Person Specification- Diploma/degree in physiotherapy and current HCPC certificate.
- Experience within the NHS, including experience as a junior in a broad rotational post covering a range of experience in orthopaedics, elderly care, medical, surgical, neurological, and musculoskeletal conditions.
- Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at recent Postgraduate courses relevant to the clinical field.
- Postgraduate training/experience in rehabilitation and elderly care.
- Working knowledge of a broad range of musculoskeletal, neurological, and medical conditions common in the elderly.
- Experience supervising student physiotherapists or physiotherapy assistant/technical instructors/support workers.
- Experience of working in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
- Experience of primary care rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of the safeguarding adults process.
- An understanding of Clinical Governance and its implications for services, including experience of quality issues and participation in research and audit.
- Knowledge and understanding of complex legislation surrounding health and adult social care.
- Ability to contribute to weekend/evening working rosters.
- Ability to work alone assessing and managing risk.
- Ability to be mobile in the South Devon area to complete community visits and attend meetings.
