Job Title: Design Technology Technician

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Technician to join our team at a Secondary school in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will work in partnership with class teachers to support with resources and learning within the Design & Technology departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support for teaching staff in Design technology (DT)
  • Following procedure for stock control and ordering of project resources
  • Setting up equipment for practical lessons
  • Maintenance and cleaning of equipment including identifying and reporting repairs that may be needed.
  • Confidence in using machinery and tools.
  • Maintaining tidy classrooms/workshops and ensuring materials are safely stored and labelled.
  • Mounting work and creating displays.
  • Writing and reviewing Health and Safety procedures including Risk Assessments and COSHH data sheets
  • Scheduling annual machine inspections and liaising with inspection staff
  • Undertaking training in order to effectively carry out this role.
  • Ad hoc duties as directed by line managers Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in schools in the UK is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications or experience in Design, Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong technical skills with an understanding of current technology and design tools.
  • A genuine passion for education and the ability to inspire young learners.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students, with adherence to all safeguarding protocols and background checks.

Must have:

  • Enhanced DBS Child and Adult Check – Must be on the update service. (We can assist you with a DBS if you do not have one)
  • 2x References are a must in order to clear your file with GSL.
  • Valid right to work for the UK
