SI Group seeks a skilled Analytical Chemist Apprentice to contribute to our research and development team. This role involves designing and conducting advanced chromatography analyses and developing new analytical methods to support various projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement chromatography protocols using HPLC, UHPLC, GPC, and GC, including mass spectrometry detection.
  • Develop and document analytical methods to meet project requirements.
  • Perform routine and non-routine analyses of diverse sample types.
  • Operate and maintain complex analytical instruments.
  • Apply titration techniques and associated software.
  • Solve complex problems using scientific insight and initiative.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure high-quality analytical support.
  • Share knowledge and expertise to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Promote a culture of safety and proactive problem-solving.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conduct Certificate of Analysis (CoA) testing for new suppliers' raw materials.
  • Support R&D, applications, process development, manufacturing, regulatory, and sales teams through timely analytical results.
  • Provide analytical support for non-dusting blend (NDB) full-scale remote toll manufacturing and local pilot plant.
  • Develop product specifications and analytical methods as needed.
  • Backup QC testing for CoA in case of equipment failure at contract labs.
  • Participate in round-robin analytical studies to ensure consistency and competency across NDB QC labs.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of NDB analytical instrumentation.
  • Review and update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure compliance with SI Group's Quality policy, safety regulations, and ISO 9000 programs.

Essential Skills:
  • BSc in Chemistry (Analytical Chemistry preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience as an analytical scientist in materials or a related industry.
  • Proven experience in chromatography with various detection types, including mass spectrometry.
  • Working knowledge of spectroscopy and wet chemistry.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
