Senior Security Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Engineer to join our Security Engineering team at Tesco. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our technology and software development teams across cloud and other cutting-edge technologies at scale.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical guidance and direction to engineering and product teams on all security matters, leveraging a comprehensive security organization to ensure effective support.
- Collaborate with product teams to deliver new business features securely, balancing technical and business risk while articulating clear and concise technical and business implications.
- Drive the deployment and integration of security capabilities into engineering teams within the product domain, ensuring seamless adoption and minimal friction.
- Develop and implement security initiatives, including threat modeling, application security, vulnerability reduction, and risk treatment, in collaboration with engineering teams.
- Facilitate risk remediation and challenge decisions and status-quo, ensuring a proactive and adaptive security posture.
- Support teams in a collaborative manner across mobile application, web application, cloud, and data security, providing threat modeling, risk treatment, and security advice.
- Facilitate assurance activities, including penetration testing, purple testing, and application assurance, to ensure the highest level of security.
- Develop and maintain quarterly and monthly roadmaps for security activities, ensuring effective planning and execution.
- Evangelize security best practices, contribute to strengthening Tesco's internal policies and standards, and promote a culture of security awareness.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in security engineering or closely related areas, with a strong understanding of modern application development practices and security domains.
- Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills, with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to provide security guidance to engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle, develop threat models, and embed security by design in product engineering efforts.
- Good understanding of web technologies, REST APIs, microservices, modern application development, and mobile apps, as well as software architecture, dev-sec-ops, and network security.
- Experience with complex Azure and AWS architectures, with an emphasis on containerized workloads, and command-line/API experience is highly desirable.
- Some coding experience in a programming language such as Java, HTML, or JavaScript is a plus, as is knowledge of industry standards such as OWASP ASVS, OWASP Top-10, and CIS benchmarks.
- Azure or AWS cloud security certifications are preferred.
