About the Role

Climax Studios, a renowned digital experience developer, seeks an experienced Lighting Artist to join our team. With a 30-year history, we've established ourselves as a leader in creating innovative experiences across various formats, earning multiple awards along the way.

We're looking for a talented, UK-based Lighting Artist who can conceive, create, and contribute to our team's artistic visuals. You'll be based out of our state-of-the-art studio in the heart of Liverpool's Albert Dock, surrounded by a beautiful city centre.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our design and technical art teams to create balanced, atmospheric lighting for in-game environments and cinematics.
  • Understand composition and enhance game environments and locations through lighting.
  • Develop lighting-related visual and post effects.
  • Maintain and ensure runtime performance and optimization.
  • Enhance the project's mood and tell stories through lighting.

Requirements

  • Experience with Maya.
  • Extensive experience with Unreal 4/5.
  • Proficiency in 2D packages like Photoshop/Substance.
  • A solid understanding of Shaders and materials.
  • A minimum of 2 years of lighting experience on a AAA project.
  • Knowledge of various baked and real-time lighting methods.
  • Strong Environment or Tech Art background.
  • Creative and self-motivated.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • An artistic education to at least graduate level.
  • A strong portfolio including examples of realistic modeling and environment.
