ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary) Job Opportunity

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate ASD Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Sunderland. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them to thrive in their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to pupils with ASD, ensuring they can fully engage with the curriculum in a nurturing environment.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to create and implement personalized learning plans, tailored to the needs of each pupil.
  • Assist in managing behavior in the classroom, in line with school policies and procedures.
  • Help pupils develop their social, emotional, and communication skills, promoting independence and self-confidence.
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with ASD in a school setting.
  • A patient, understanding, and empathetic approach, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently, with a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
