Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Correctional Healthcare Specialist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As an essential member of our healthcare staff, you will provide comprehensive healthcare services to inmates in a correctional setting.

About the Job:

This role is responsible for delivering total healthcare to inmates, including routine, chronic, and emergency care. You will maintain continuity of care from admission to discharge, ensuring safe medication administration and adherence to Department of Corrections policy and American Correctional Association standards.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a correctional or public healthcare setting, with a strong background in assessing and treating human injuries, diseases, and deformities. They will possess comprehensive knowledge of current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) diagnostic criteria and be able to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial and ongoing medical assessments
  • Prescribe appropriate medication and/or mechanical measures to assist inmates with their medical needs
  • Assist with preparation/modification of medical treatment plans
  • Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Virginia as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Extensive knowledge of information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current DSM diagnostic criteria
  • Knowledge of professional and ethical standards of practice and interventions appropriate for the assigned population

Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is $105,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Benefits:

Eligible employees can receive a $10,000 Sign-On Bonus or $10,000 Student Loan Repayment. Additionally, we offer competitive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
