Job Summary

Arla Foods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shift Team Leader to join our Operations team at our Oswestry Cheese Packaging Facility in Shropshire.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of professionals in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the safe and efficient production of high-quality cheese products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate a team of production staff to achieve their objectives and contribute to the overall success of the facility.
  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment, adhering to 5S principles and GMP standards.
  • Assist the team in achieving their objectives, providing coaching, hands-on support, and resource organization.
  • Manage resource utilization and direct reports, including investigations and performance management.
  • Ensure a cost-efficient and stable production process, focusing on SIC/KPI.
  • Work closely with the M&E team leader to ensure alignment on performance and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Contribute to the development of current processes and ways of working, identifying opportunities for Continuous Improvement.
  • Implement the department Business Plan, including own objectives.
  • Conduct walking tours and process confirmation.
  • Enable daily direction setting meetings to drive performance.
  • Ensure compliance with Arla's standards in terms of Food Safety, H&S, Environment, and carry out internal audits.
  • Control emergency issues/situations on site.

Requirements

We are seeking a Shift Leader with excellent people skills, high levels of enthusiasm, and a positive attitude to implementing change and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A basic understanding of food manufacturing/FMCG.
  • Experience managing large teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean Principles (Six Sigma qualification) would be preferred.
  • Previous experience within an FMCG or dairy industry would be advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
