Sustainability Manager Job Description

CBW Staffing Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Manager to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our company's environmental compliance, minimizing our carbon footprint, and implementing sustainable practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Sustainability Strategies: Create and execute plans to address environmental challenges, reduce waste, and promote energy efficiency.
  • Environmental Compliance and Management: Ensure our company adheres to ISO14001 standards and regulatory requirements, and implement policies related to sustainability and waste management.
  • Employee Education and Awareness: Educate staff on sustainability and environmental issues, and foster a culture of environmental awareness within our organization.
  • Waste Management and Recycling: Coordinate waste management, identify recycling opportunities, and implement safe waste disposal methods.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Liaise with regulatory bodies, such as the Environment Agency, as required.
  • Environmental Performance Data: Collect and analyze environmental performance data, and report information to internal staff, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Carbon Reporting and Net Zero Targets: Manage carbon reporting, net zero targets, and other aspects of our environmental management system.
  • Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies: Research and identify new renewable technologies and energy sources, and explore opportunities for introducing sustainable energy options for our business and clients.
  • Community Engagement: Prepare and deliver environmental presentations to third parties, such as councils, social landlords, schools, and colleges, as part of our community benefit offerings.
  • Installation Projects: Ensure installation projects are carried out in line with environmental legislation and best practices.
  • Legislative Updates: Stay up-to-date with relevant changes in environmental legislation and initiatives relevant to our business.

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Excellent Communication and Influencing Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Project Management Experience: Proven ability to manage projects from start to completion.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Policies and Procedures: Understanding of relevant company quality, sustainability, environmental, and health and safety policies, procedures, instructions, and risk assessment systems.
  • Inspiring Leadership: Ability to inspire and build confidence in knowledge of sustainability and environmental issues and impacts.
  • Time Management and Attention to Detail: Good time management skills with an attention to detail and a methodical approach to working in a busy and changing environment.
  • Qualifications and Experience: Degree or HND in an environment-related subject, such as environmental sciences, environmental management, geography, or environmental health, and knowledge of management systems standards, including ISO9001, 14001, and ISO45001.
  • Genuine Interest in Sustainability: A genuine interest and understanding of sustainability and environmental issues, relevant legislation, and renewable energy sources.
