Job Title: Development Manager - Regeneration and Development
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Development Manager to join our Regeneration, Development, and Asset Management Team. As a Development Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating internal departments, managing external consultants, and ensuring projects are delivered from detailed design through to handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee council development projects, focusing on post-contract work (RIBA stages 4-7).
- Create options for physical development and regeneration, including large-scale housing and mixed-use developments.
- Lead procurement and post-contract design services, ensuring top-notch design, innovation, sustainability, and construction practices.
- Secure planning approvals and manage planning conditions for mixed-tenure housing and community facilities.
- Guide consultations with residents, ensuring methods support development programme objectives.
- Report on project milestones and targets to senior managers and elected members.
- Oversee project teams, including consultants and developers, ensuring compliance with agreements and plans.
- Maximize benefits from land and asset redevelopment in collaboration with asset management services.
- Work with Planning and Legal services on tenancy, planning, and development legislation.
- Maintain effective communication with members and internal stakeholders post-contract.
- Flexible working: visit building sites and wear personal protective equipment as needed.
- Lead the handover process, securing all necessary sign-offs and approvals.
Requirements:
- Relevant degree in construction, development, or regeneration, or significant experience with continuous professional development (minimum 3 years).
- Experience within a local authority or an housing association would be an advantage.
- Experience managing complex mixed-use development projects.
- Strong project management skills for technically complex construction projects.
- Expertise in efficient handover processes for new developments.
- Negotiation skills at various project stages.
