Job Title: Academic Mentor

SMART Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Academic Mentor to support vulnerable, at-risk, and disengaged learners with their core subjects. As an Academic Mentor, you will have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with children and young people with varying learning needs through tutoring in a creative, flexible, and engaging manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create a calm and positive learning environment
• Build a strong rapport with both the learner and their families
• Plan lesson plans and activities for the tutoring sessions to ensure the curriculum is covered sufficiently
• Support a child in achieving their personal goals
• Complete a home tuition report after sessions that outlines progress of the learner
• Support the learner's re-engagement in education

Requirements:

A creative and versatile teaching style
Professional Teaching Qualifications (QTS / QTLS / PGCE), Subject Specialism, or extensive tuition experience supporting with English, Maths, and/or Science
Experience, Knowledge, and Understanding of working with children/young people with additional learning needs (SEN/SEMH)
Experience, Knowledge, and Understanding of working with disengaged young people or looked-after children
An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to acquire one
Experience, Knowledge, and Understanding of Safeguarding practices
