Perception Systems Lead Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Perception Systems Lead to spearhead the development of cutting-edge computer vision and sensor fusion systems for our humanoid robots. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the perception systems that enable our robots to understand and navigate their environment.


Main Responsibilities
  • Design and Implement Perception Systems: Develop computer vision algorithms for object detection, semantic segmentation, and 3D scene understanding in dynamic environments.
  • Integrate Perception with Navigation and Reasoning Systems: Collaborate with the Navigation, Reasoning, and Locomotion teams to ensure seamless integration of perception components within the robot's software architecture.
  • Optimize Sensor Fusion Techniques: Develop and refine sensor fusion techniques to combine data from cameras, LIDAR, RADAR, IMUs, and other sensors to create a robust and accurate perception system.

Requirements
  • Educational Background: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in machine learning, computer vision, and sensor fusion technologies, with a proven track record in developing algorithms for object detection, semantic segmentation, and 3D scene understanding.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++, with strong experience in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Perception Systems: Experience with perception systems for humanoid robots or other complex robotic platforms.
  • Publication Record: A strong publication record in the fields of computer vision, machine learning, or robotic perception.
  • Passion for Robotics: Passion for robotics and a drive to push the boundaries of what is possible.
