Campion Pickworth is a leading specialist finance provider seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join its underwriting team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Chief Credit Officer and Head of Underwriting in achieving business objectives through diligent, timely, and comprehensive underwriting, working closely with the wider Credit Management Team.
- Conduct effective risk-based assessments and compliant decision-making of loan applications, with a focus on complex borrowers and good customer outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Credit Management Team to review and implement credit and risk strategies, provide training and knowledge sharing, smoothly implement changes of policy & procedures, and maintain high standards of customer service levels.
- Lead by example with a positive 'can-do' approach and help build a cohesive Credit Management team to demonstrate collective expertise, professionalism, and maturity in a dynamic and diverse culture.
- Analyse, assess, and document compliant credit decisions of loan applications within a robust mandate structure, falling under the Senior Credit Manager mandate level.
- Provide oversight of credit workflow to help deliver excellent services within Service Level Agreements, escalating any capacity requirements.
- Monitor Credit Key Performance Indicators across the portfolio and consider a balance between returns and risk exposure.
- Assist with the preparation and reviews of credit reports for management, committees, and nominated third parties.
- Enhance the liaison and communication within the wider Credit Management function, while also improving working relationships with other internal functions to optimize the client experience.
Requirements
At least 3 years of Credit and underwriting experience in mortgages, real estate, or secured finance.
Ability to interpret financial statements, management accounts, and individual's financials to demonstrate a requirement of affordability.
Strong numeracy, data-driven, reporting, and Excel skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to customers, the credit team, and line management.
Highly organized and attentive to detail.
Ability to work under pressure, on multiple tasks, and to tight deadlines.
