UK Payroll Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic payroll team in London. This role will focus on managing the UK and Guernsey payrolls for approximately 2500 employees and pensioners across nine distinct payrolls.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and submit monthly payroll data to our outsourced payroll vendor through a secure online portal.
- Review and reconcile payroll output, collaborating with the vendor to address any discrepancies and generate reports for approval by the Payroll Manager.
- Ensure strict adherence to all deadlines and accurate payment processing for all employees.
- Continuously optimize payroll processes through collaboration with the Payroll team and other stakeholders within the organization.
- Provide exceptional customer service to employees and stakeholders across all UK and Guernsey businesses, addressing their payroll-related inquiries promptly and efficiently.
- Support post-Payroll activities such as third-party payments, P45 distribution, and preparation of Payment After Leaving letters.
- Manage team invoices and month-end journals, closely monitoring the SAP GL interface process to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in maintaining the team mailbox and promptly responding to all payroll-related queries from employees and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Payroll Lead on ad hoc tasks and contribute to the onboarding process for new joiners.
Required Experience, Skills, and Competencies
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a mid-level UK payroll role.
- Proven experience working effectively within a payroll team environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of UK statutory payroll legislation and calculations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (Vlookup, Pivot tables).
- Established track record of building positive relationships with outsourced payroll vendors.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong numeracy skills are essential for this role.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to effectively manage payroll processes.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with CloudPay as an outsourced payroll vendor would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of Year-End processing for the UK, including P60, P11d, and PSA is desirable.
