About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Section Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. As a Section Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of our infrastructure projects, working closely with our project teams to ensure the successful completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in creating a safe working environment and assist the Site Agent in planning and coordinating the project and resources.
- Coordinate subcontractors to ensure they achieve programme outputs and write, review, and implement Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
- Ensure works are carried out as per ITPs, including correct engineering checks, hold points, inspections, and tests, and manage the site engineering team, delegate tasks, train, and mentor junior engineers.
- Control and update programmes, attend coordination meetings, and daily/week/monthly lookaheads as required, and ensure works are in accordance with the Specification Highways Works (SHW), Project Works Information, and drawings.
- Raise design-related Request for Information (RFIs) and Technical Queries (TQs), and ensure accurate and timely records are kept, including site diaries, quality assurance documentation (QA), photos, as-built surveys, red-line drawings, and test results.
- Constant communication and liaison with the commercial team, providing detailed information to allow for accurate financial reporting, including compensation events (CEs) and early warnings (EWs).
- Manage the snagging system, recording and clearing all snags, and notifying the commercial team and subcontractors, and control and minimize waste on site.
- Identify and assist in introducing new processes, techniques, and innovations on site, and ensure all company property under your control is taken care of and stored securely when not in use.
About You:
- Ability to work safely and read and interpret data and drawings.
- Advanced setting out techniques and ability to use Level and EDM with knowledge of GPS preferred.
- Relevant Civil Engineering experience (Highways, Rail, water, or aviation).
- Proven leadership and delegation skills, flexible attitude to work, problem-solving skills, NVQ Level or higher, SMSTS, and relevant CSCS card.
- Office expertise/CAD.
