We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer or Engineering Manager with a passion for Sustainability to join our team as a Sustainability Project Specialist.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving our 5-year energy and carbon reduction sustainability strategy across our UK-wide bakery and depot network. This is a key role that will play a crucial part in achieving our ambitious sustainability goals.

The Role:

  1. Identify, engage, and manage the 3rd Party Vendor community associated with Project Delivery and Nationwide Maintenance.
  2. Lead key sustainability projects such as the installation of new oven technology to improve energy efficiency, upgrading old and inefficient control systems, integration of renewable energy solutions (solar, wind, and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants), and investigating innovative technologies to support sustainability goals.
  3. Collaborate with the sustainability team to align projects with corporate sustainability objectives.
  4. Work alongside site leadership and engineering managers to ensure smooth project execution.
  5. Ensure awareness of Technology improvements and apply them to projects as applicable to drive efficiency improvements and ensure Best Practice.
  6. Negotiate and purchase items of machinery for major projects in those areas agreed with the Head of Project Engineering.
  7. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and sustainability certifications.
  8. Support the identification and implementation of a new Energy management system.

Salary: Circa £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Location: Hybrid role which can be based at any one of our UK Bakery sites depending on your location, some travel to Bolton for Team meetings.

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday Days based.

Benefits:

  2. Proven project management experience within engineering.
  3. Electrical / mechanical Engineering Background; Electrical bias.
  4. Ability to drive performance and energy cost savings and efficiencies through data analysis.
  5. Able to identify and drive energy efficiencies and carbon reduction opportunities.
  6. Knowledge or experience of Energy Management Systems (EMS) would be desirable but not essential.
  7. Experienced in Key stakeholder management with the ability to influence, establishing credibility with both internal and external contacts at all levels.
  8. Budget creation and management experience ensuring a return on investment.
  9. H&S/Food Safety systems & legislation knowledge e.g., IOSH – able to ensure a safe working environment.
  10. Works collaboratively to make decisions with the input of the wider team.
  11. Possess an Engineering Qualification such as HND, HNC, BEng or equivalent.
