Location: Mainstream Primary School in Waltham Forest

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support our Early Years team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and school SENCO to provide individualized support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Your role will involve:

  • Providing support to pupils in a Year 1 classroom
  • Working with small groups of children to deliver targeted interventions
  • Assisting students with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Speech, and Language difficulties
  • Using your creativity to engage pupils and promote learning
  • Liaising with the class teacher and school SENCO to monitor pupil progress
  • Running phonics lessons for children working below age expected levels and those exceeding

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience working with children in a school setting
  • Desirable: experience working with SEN pupils
  • Ability to adapt approach to meet individual learner needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with pupils and colleagues
