About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Weighbridge Operative to join our team at our Aldridge Site. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our waste management operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure relevant allocated tasks from the Biffa Health and Safety and Environmental management systems are completed, including safety instructions to drivers, near miss reporting, and site violations forms.
  • Operate and maintain two 50,000kg weighbridges, ensuring accurate and efficient weighing operations.
  • Maintain site control, ensuring contractors and visitors have appropriate inductions and permits, if required.
  • Monitor personnel working at or customers delivering waste at the site, ensuring compliance with site rules and reporting breaches via the near miss reporting procedure.
  • Report customer queries, complaints, or unexpected problems, such as customers on stop or site damage.
  • Understand and implement waste duty of care requirements, carrying out load checking procedures and coordinating with customers and operatives as needed.
  • Share responsibility for the health and safety of the team.
  • Understand relevant items of the site permit via induction and toolbox talks.
  • Carry out other reasonable job-related tasks as required by the company.
Requirements
  • Strong PC skills and excellent organisational skills.
  • Good communication skills at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Ability to manage processes, prioritise, and problem-solve.
  • Full training provided, but experience in administration in waste/recycling/health and safety is an advantage.
