The Academics team is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to join our team in a secondary trauma-informed setting. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational journey of our students, who have a wide range of moderate learning and behavioural needs.

The school provides a unique and specialist environment that closely fits the needs and challenges of our students. With a focus on implementing effective communication techniques, our classes range from 6-8 in size, and we have therapy rooms and designated areas for specialist support from a range of therapists.

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting students with autism, down's syndrome, speech and language challenges, and social, emotional needs. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our experienced team to develop and implement individualized education plans that cater to the diverse needs of our students.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches and a commitment to creating a safe and supportive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the educational journey of students with a wide range of moderate learning and behavioural needs
  • Work closely with the teaching team to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Assist with the delivery of lessons and activities that promote effective communication and social skills
  • Provide one-to-one support to students who require additional assistance
  • Contribute to the development of a positive and inclusive school culture

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in Psychology or a related field
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches and strategies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
