Job Title: Trainee CAD Technician

JK Associates is seeking a highly skilled Trainee CAD Technician to join our team. As a Trainee CAD Technician, you will be responsible for creating and updating technical drawings and models using CAD software.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize CAD software to create and update technical drawings and models based on component samples and specifications.
  • Work with 3D CAD models and 2D drawings to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Conduct reverse engineering of components from samples to develop accurate technical drawings and documentation.
  • Analyse component designs to identify areas for improvement or modification.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all drawings, specifications, and design changes in accordance with company procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to shop floor technicians, facilitating the use of CAD/CAM tools and techniques.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving related to component production and design, and QA issues.
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure designs are feasible and meet manufacturing capabilities.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress, design challenges, and solutions.
  • Stay informed about advancements in CAD/CAM technology and industry best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at optimising production workflows.
Requirements:
  • Solid engineering background, preferably in a component manufacturing and machining environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD and CAM software; all software backgrounds considered as software training can be given (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Experience in reverse engineering and component manufacturing processes would be an advantage.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Recognised formal production engineering qualification, industrial manufacturing design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
