Job Title: Senior Data Privacy Advisor

We are a leading IT recruitment specialist, providing support to clients across the UK, Europe, and Australia. Our team is dedicated to finding the best talent for our clients' needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Act as a senior data privacy subject matter expert and advisor for our clients, providing guidance on data protection regulations and requirements.
  2. Ensure data privacy is considered in new product approvals and technology change processes, and provide input on new business propositions to identify potential data privacy risks.
  3. Collaborate with our data privacy governance team to ensure data privacy-related incidents, breaches, and risk events are reported, recorded, and monitored.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including data privacy leads, compliance teams, and other stakeholders.
  5. Develop and deliver training to upskill data privacy functional leads and the wider organization on data privacy issues, themes, and risks.
  6. Stay up-to-date with changes to data privacy-related laws and regulations, and work with our clients to implement operational changes as necessary.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of data privacy-related artifacts, including privacy notices and records of processing activities.
  8. Identify, assess, and control the risks associated with transferring personal data to different jurisdictions.
  9. Provide input into conformance, assurance, and reviews from a data privacy perspective.
Requirements:
  1. Relevant knowledge and experience in data protection regulations and requirements, preferably in the financial services industry.
  2. Previous leadership experience, including people management, planning, and promoting process improvements.
  3. Excellent business judgment and commercial acumen, with a willingness to exercise it.
  4. A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, flexible, consultative working style, and ability to drive change.
Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:
  1. Proven experience of advising and/or managing data privacy issues.
  2. Ability to operate in a fast-moving business environment and make decisions bearing in mind business objectives and commercial requirements.
  3. Strong technical and regulatory knowledge in the areas of data privacy.
  4. Experience with handling and information control and management of data breach or technology-related incidents.
  5. Experience with privacy impact assessments and privacy risk and control assessments.
Desirable Skills/Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Certifications in one or more of the following disciplines: data privacy, legal, compliance, information risk, or information technology.
  2. BCS qualification in Data Protection.
