About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Associate to join our Defence sector team as a Mechanical Lead. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering innovative and technically excellent design solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client-facing role, attending project meetings and disseminating the brief within the project team.
  • Working on a varied portfolio of projects, both in the UK and internationally, with a focus on Defence projects.
  • Leading the development of initial strategic concepts for projects, ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
  • Providing a lead role in an integrated project design team with other construction professionals.
  • Taking responsibility for solid technical delivery in your work, either alone or as part of a team.
  • Engaging with junior support staff in their day-to-day activities and offering advice and guidance to ensure they develop their skills.
  • Financially astute, working with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources, and work delivered.
  • Looking at new ways of working and taking time out for innovation and research to ensure we stay ahead of our competitors.
  • Creating and maintaining a high reputation within the industry, and ensuring adherence to QM and risk control procedures.
Requirements
  • A relevant degree in Building Services Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered status or working towards it.
  • Membership of CIBSE/IMECHE or an industry-recognised institution.
  • Excellent technical knowledge in your primary discipline and a thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment, leading, motivating, and supervising junior/senior engineers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate positive outcomes, resource planning, motivation, and management.
  • Previous consultancy experience, with an appreciation of the importance of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modelling in the design of buildings.
