Main Scope & Function of Job:

To maintain aviation security standards, ensuring the safe and smooth transition of passengers, staff, and airport users in accordance with Department for Transport Directives.

Weekly Hours Available:

18 hours per week

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Screen all passengers and staff passing through the Archway Metal Detectors, manual body searching where necessary, supported by the use of explosive trace detection and hand-held metal detectors.
  2. Screen items via x-ray, explosive trace equipment, and manual search to ensure that no prohibited articles are taken airside which could endanger aircraft, passengers, and crew.
  3. Control access into airside, checking identification or travel documents for all passengers, staff, and airport users requiring access.
  4. Search vehicles that require entry airside.
  5. Read and adhere to security notices, completing documentation clearly and concisely on any incidents that may have occurred.
  6. Respond to and assist with emergency situations such as aircraft emergencies, terminal evacuations, and security incidents.
  7. Carry out patrols (vehicle and on foot) to ensure that the locations are secure (i.e., any suspicious persons identified, and their presence is justified, doors are secure, etc.).
  8. Attend to and investigate reports of any unattended baggage.
  9. Escort duties for visitors and contractors working airside.
  10. Meet performance targets and goals both as an individual and a team.
Knowledge and Experience:

Essential:

  1. Must be able to pass a basic medical examination to determine lack of colour blindness.
  2. Have no unspent criminal convictions.
  3. Be of smart appearance and good bearing.
  4. Have a checkable work history of at least 5 years to meet Department for Transport Regulations.

Desirable:

  1. Experience of working within the Aviation and/or Security Industry.
  2. Have a valid, clean full UK driving licence.

Other:

Full training in-house will be provided.

Part-time: either the 3 early or late shifts as above, then 6 rest days, averaging to 18 hours per week.
