About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our CAMHS Inpatient Unit, The Beacon Centre.


The successful candidate will work within a dynamic therapies team, providing individual and group psychologically informed interventions to young people aged 13-18 years with complex needs, including trauma.


The role involves conducting psychological assessments, developing individualised formulations, and contributing to multidisciplinary team discussions, formulations, and CPD sessions.


Key responsibilities include:



  • Conducting psychological assessments and developing individualised formulations for young people in mental health crisis
  • Delivering individual and group psychologically informed interventions, either jointly with the therapies team or autonomously
  • Engaging young people on the ward and implementing cognitive-behavioural and emotional regulation approaches to improve their well-being and functioning
  • Supporting with risk assessment and safety planning, in conjunction with the wider inpatient team
  • Contributing to MDT discussions, formulations, and CPD sessions, and providing teaching where required
  • Engaging with the rest of the therapies team to consider packages of care offered to young people and the development of a well-rounded therapies offer
  • Considering the validity and use of outcome and feedback measures within an inpatient context
  • Being involved in co-production and supporting the feedback of young people to be heard and used to impact service delivery

The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust is going from strength to strength since its original establishment in 2021, forming the North London Mental Health Partnership.

Person Specification


Qualifications/Registrations



  • Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology
  • Professional Registration with HCPC to qualify as a Clinical Psychologist in the UK

Skills/Abilities



  • Skills in psychological assessment and treatment of children and young people, including developing individualised formulations

Experience/Knowledge



  • Experience of working with people with mental health difficulties
  • Experience working with children and young people 0-18 years
  • Experience working with young people at risk to themselves or others. Experience of working with and knowledge in processes around managing risk and safeguarding
