Geo-Environmental Engineering Leader

This exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced and motivated Senior Geotechnical Director to lead and grow a busy team of experienced engineers across multiple locations in the UK.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a skilled team, overseeing operations, ensuring technical excellence, driving business development, and managing financial performance. Ideally full time permanent, but a 4-day week will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Management: Lead and manage a team of 30 engineers. You will have 6 direct reports, including senior leaders, and be responsible for the overall performance and development of the team.* Business Strategy & Development: Drive the operational strategy of the department, identifying opportunities for growth, expansion, and business development. Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring sustainable business growth.* Financial Management: Oversee the financial performance of the division, including budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring profitable delivery of projects.* Technical Expertise: Provide technical leadership and support on complex geo-environmental and geotechnical projects, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance.* People Management: Manage the recruitment, development, and retention of talent, ensuring the team is well-equipped to meet current and future business demands.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be a senior leader with a proven track record of managing multiple teams and locations across the UK. You will have significant experience in geo-environmental and geotechnical engineering, and a deep understanding of both the technical and operational aspects of the business.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Chartered status with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE).* Extensive experience in senior leadership roles, ideally as a director or in a similar capacity.* Proven experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex projects across multiple locations.* Strong business development, financial management, and strategic planning skills.* Demonstrable experience in people management and talent development.* Ability to balance technical and operational challenges with a clear focus on growth and efficiency.
